Mercury Chief With Parsons B Bender and G Bender
$1950 Just an amazing guitar. DCXSound is starting a major guitar building phase and we recently bought out the last of Mercury Guitars luthier supplies. Mercury was an innovative company building a line of classic electric guitars and bases during the 1990s. They were a licensed Parons String Bender installation facility. Along with their remaining wood and tools we picked up this prototype Mercury Chief fitted with an authentic Parsons B/G Bender. This is truly a one of a kind instrument. I've played a B Bender before but a G Bender takes some getting use to. Besides the Gene Parsons hardware, it came with a Lindy Fralin Telecaster Bridge pickup along with a Strat type middle Pickup and a Fender Neck Telecaster pickup. Combined with some fancy switching options and you've got a real tone machine. It comes equipped with Kieth banjo type tuners with locking range set screws (on the E,A and B strings) that let you quickly re-tune to your favorite alternate tuning. Doug Pelton, one of the founding partners of Mercury, said the original list price was around $2000. I don't think you could touch a custom B Bender let alone a G Bender guitar for anywhere close to that these days . Thank you Doug for putting us into one of your finest creations! Comes with custom fit highly protective case. -
1993 Paul Reed Smith 24 Fret Custom Gold Top
$1950 Pre-factory made. These early Customs are excellent playing guitars with unique features. Like all US Made PRS guitars, they come perfectly set up from the factory and are rock solid stable. If you are not familiar with these early US made, "pre-factory" PRS models you should know they are built like precision machines with extremely tight tolerances. They are the reason for PRS's great reputation from early on. If you change the string gauge, misadjust the truss-rod or the spring tension on the tremelo block it looses its seemingly magical properties and plays like a normal guitar. Get it set up properly and that magic is restored. The pickups and pickup selection switch on the Customs are also unique. The pickups evoke tones from early Fender Stratocaster, Telecaster and Gibson Alnico magnet vintage pickups. The 5-way rotary pickup selector switch yields an array of delicious retro tones. Comes with original PRS hard shell case. Guitar is in excellent condition with minimal wear for its age. Frets are in excellent condition. -
Fender Joe Strummer Telecaster
$995 Fender 66 Reissue Telecaster Joe Strummer Tribute model with stencils and stickers designed by Shepard Fairey. Pickgaurd signed by Shepard Fairey at Obama rally in San Francisco 2008 -
1982 Fender 60's Stratocaster Re-issue Fullerton Built
$2,500. Fender got it right with these first reissues of the old 60's Stratocasters. They also put out a credible version of a 50's Stratocaster at the same time. I have this one strung up with 11's and it feels like playing butter. The pickups sound incredible. It comes with the original Fender 60's tweed reissue hard case as well. -
1991 Fender Telecaster Custom MIJ
NFS. Another excellent sounding gem from the Fujigen Gakki Plant in Japan. They really got it right with these Japanese re-issues. These compete well with the US made re-issues that I've tried (but I still want one of those too). Currently one of my favorite players. -
1964 Premier Scroll Guitar w/ DeArmond Pickups
SOLD! with original hard case. This awesome US made vintage Scroll guitar by Premier is in excellent condition and fun to play. Great sounding with less than normal wear and tear for its age. Brazilian rosewood fretboard and coveted DeArmond pickups made by Rowe round out the awesome feature list for this historically significant vintage axe. 2009 Tokai Talbo Woody
Sold! 2009 Tokai Talbo Woody I. This is a super light weight, Japanese made Stratocaster style electric guitar. It is highly resonant and responsive with hot vintage sounding Alnico singe coil pickups and 5 way switching. With a reverse wound, reverse polarity middle pickup this guitar gets all the classic Stratocaster tones. The frets are immaculate and the setup is perfect for effortless playing, classic glassy Strat tones and serious grind when cranked with distortion. Tokai guitars are always high caliber and are made with the highest quality components. The Tokai pickups are world class and the fit and finish is second to none. This guitar is new and still has the protective plastic on the pick guard. It does have one small ding on the back from "shop wear". You Tube video -
Gibson 94 Les Paul Special
Sold! Gibson went over the top with these 1994 reissues of the legendary Les Paul Specials of the 1950's. They decided a few improvements were in order. Starting with a Tune-O-Matic bridge and tailpiece rather than the wrap around bridge that came on the originals. They also saw fit to bind the fret board in the style of Les Paul Standards. Grover tuners and P-100 humbucking pickups round out the list of changes. This one has a one piece mahogany body. It seems Gibson put some effort into making sure these reissues stood on their own quality wise. Comes with original Gibson hardshell case. -
Dark Back Custom Telecaster
Sold! Super lightweight custom telecaster with nitro lacquer finish -
Gibson Explorer
Sold. I've always loved the iconic shape of the Explorer. I've owned 5 different versions over the years. This 2006 version was my fav. -
Fender Aluminum Stratocaster
SOLD! Made from a 1994 Fender aluminum Stratocaster body and a 2005 Fender Deluxe Stratocaster neck that has been fitted with LSR roller nut and stainless steel medium jumbo frets. It's been Plecked and because of the stainless steel frets, is unlikely to ever need any fret work in our lifetimes. It is also fitted with Lace Chrome Dome pickups which are equivalent to Lace Gold Sensor pickups. They sound delicious, just ask Eric Clapton. It has Fender branded Schaller locking tuners and a Gotoh 2 point tremolo system with a solid steel inertia block. It weighs in at a scant 7.4 lbs and comes with a plush red velvet lined Fender tweed case. Click the image to see a gallery of images of this guitar. -
1993 MIJ Fender 62 Stratocaster Reissue

Fender Jimmie Vaughan Stratocaster
SOLD! - These Jimmy Vaughan Signature Series Stratocaster have to be one of the best deals Fender is offering these days. Equipped with a soft shoulder V shaped neck, custom shop pickups, 9.5" fretboard radius and medium jumbo frets, you'd have to step up to a Custom Shop instrument to get these features and certainly not at the price of the Jimmie Vaughan's MSRP of $1,089.99. Fender Telecaster Custom CIJ 1960s Reissue
SOLD! A very nice looking and great sounding CIJ Telecaster Custom. Another fine specimen from the Fujigen factory made in 2004. Strung up with 11's and plays like butter. Authentic Telecaster tone with clear jangle when played easy and immense growl when you dig in. The finish is starting to shrink into the grain which looks really cool. My favorite guitar. Comes with plastic Fender Hard case. Inquire for price -
1965 Sunburst Stratocaster Reproduction
Sold! Excellent sounding and easy playing Strat. Features include a set of Lollar Vintage Pickups, a light weight, one piece swamp ash body, thin skin nitro lacquer finish on neck and body, modern 9.5" radius fret board and tall medium jumbo frets. Add in a steel trem block with stamped steel saddles and you have a lethal combination of ingredients that make this an absolute killer guitar. Nobody plays this guitar without breaking into a big smile while reliving their guitar god fantasies or realities as the case may be. As far as build quality you could compare this to a Nash except that he builds maybe 20 guitars a month and I build 20 guitars a year. You better believe I sweat the details and make sure each guitar is the best it can be with character and nuance expected of the highest grade instruments. Its been rusticated and relicd to resemble some serious playing time put in on it. Look closely, inspect the details and you'll see what I mean. Asking $1750 with case. -

SOLD! Fender Vintage Modified Squire 51 DCXSound Build
This was a pretty cool bargain blowout back when Guitar Center sold these off for $70 a pop. The fat chunky necks made a lot of players feel right at home playing these lightweight sleepers... even though they seemed to be made of Swiss Cheese and pot metal. The light finish on the neck made them easy to refin in pure nitro lacquer. Didn't bother with the body. Just added screws to adjust the height of the neck pickup, and added a steel plate under it which was missing from this one but I heard some of them came with that stock. Also added in a fat sounding Seymour Duncan JB Humbucker with a chrome cover to class it up a bit and wa la. Just one lacquered decal away from a Vintage Modified Squire 51. -

SOLD! 1969 Dan Armstrong Lucite (Plexi) Guitar
Iconic design with great looks and tone. From the Rolling Stones to Black Flag, many have appreciated the grace, beauty and power of these rare examples of American ingenuity. There have been two reissue series of this guitar;once in the eighties and one is current. This is the original and is by far superior to the subsequent reissues. It sports a maple neck with 24 fret rosewood fret board. It has some minor damage and modifications but has been restored as much as possible to its original condition. Lucite is a very dense material and contributes to an aggressive sound with lots of sustain. This is a real joy to play -
Fender 1996 American Standard Stratocaster
SOLD! This 1996 American Standard Strat is one of the best sounding and nicest playing American Standards I have owned. I have had several sets of pickups in it including Lollars and Fralins but this is one of those guitars that just sounds great no matter what kind of pickups are in it. Currently loaded with its original Fender Alnico V model pickups with a RWRP middle. Impedance readings are 5.95k ohms, 5.92k ohms and 5.95k ohms respectively in the neck, middle and bridge positions. This combination works great with the maple neck to provide tones ranging from a glassy shimmer to a sultry smokiness and plenty of edge when turned all the way up. Comes with its original Fender molded hardshell case. -
Sold! Danelectro Silvertone
These are great sounding guitars for blues, slide, and rock. The pickups have an authentic made in America in the 50's/60's tone. Maybe not so good for metal but they look really cool and play just fine if you can find one in good repair. I sold two of these last year. I really should try to hang onto one sometime. I sold this one to real sweet girl in a way cool local band called The Pillars of Salt. she was looking for authentic tone and she also bought the Sears tube amp in the last photo and a cool vintage retro lo fi sounding microphone that you'd expect an old blues man to be using. Magic happens. -

SOLD! Black 60's Stratocaster Relic DCXSound Build
The thing about relics is, either you like em, or you hate em. There doesn't seem to be much middle ground on this. I didn't start with the relic thing until I got my hands on an already naturally relicd 1960's Fullerton Reissue Stratocaster (made in 1982). It just felt nice. I had heard stories over the years about how Stratocasters didn't really come into their own until they had been knocked around a bit, broken and repaired a few times. Seemed to make em sound or play better folks said. I got this mexican Standard Stratocaster cheap and decided to do the relic thing. I put a Classic 60's reissue neck, steel conversion trem block on it. Re-radiused the neck to 9.5" and put tall jumbo frets on it with a nitro lacquer finish. The only bummer was getting the old poly finish off the body. That was the last time I ever tried that. The combination of all the mods and nitro lacquer refin made the guitar sing. More sustain and responsiveness acoustically. I wondered what would happen if I started out with some really good wood? -
