Same Thing
The openning guitar riff which persists throughout this song was recorded with a Danelectro/Silvertone 1956 U2 guitar in drop D tuning. There are two guitars on the track which were split pretty wide in the mix so its easy to hear each guitar. I wrote the song on the Dano and it seemed no other guitar would do for the recording. The band is Hung Phang which played around the SF area in the 90's.
Secret Lover Blues
The guitar used to record this song had a built in "Super Tone Control" which was an efffect designed by Craig Anderton. This effect was like a super sweepable wha but since it was built into the guitar you could sweep it by hand. Essentially I just fingered the notes with my left hand while turning the knob with my right. This guitar with the on board effects was built by Ron Legowik of Skunk Werks who is also playing bass on the track. The bass and guitar were recorded live and the vocals and drums were added later by me. Back to Reviews
